Nintendo is surely the leader in handheld gaming consoles. The whole story of handheld gaming started in the early 80's with SEGA, Nintendo and Atari as the main competitors. The 90's were a Nintendo dominated era in terms of hand held gaming. In the year 2003, Nintendo improved its version of Gameboy Advance by adding a new folding case, a lithium battery that can be rechargeable and improved display. The new model was called the Gameboy Advance SP.
It also had a widen LCD screen and bright colors. After 2 years of the launch of Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo launched The Gameboy Micro which was much sleek, glossy and light in weight. Nintendo has sold more than 15 million handheld games in Japan and more than 40 million in America. Nintendo is a huge success and it is still way ahead of its competitors. One of the most interesting features of the Nintendo consoles is that it has a huge variety of games.
Then came the Nintendo DS, which is the successor to the popular Gameboy series. It has two screens, a very unique design. It is indeed the most functional portable game system ever offered by Nintendo. It was a breakthrough in the market for hand held games. The controls of the DS are really simple, straightforward and easy to use.
The only disadvantage is that, it is really prone to fingerprints as the body is too glossy. Another beautifully designed version of the DS is called the DS Lite. It is a smaller sleeker and brighter version of the original DS. The DS lite version also has a built in Wi-Fi which allows you to play with other players and download stuff from the internet. The device can be upgraded by installing a Nintendo DS R4 flash card into it.
The Nintendo DS can also play games of the old Nintendo Gameboy. The Nintendo DS card allows you to store games, music and other multimedia. Along with the flash card, you also get a micro SD card and a USB SD reader which allows you to transfer files from your computer to your hand held device. The process is simple. All you need to do is to install the DS R4 driver in your computer or laptop.
Download your favorite games and applications from the internet and paste it in your micro SD card through the SD card reader. Once the games and apps are saved, take the USB reader out and then take out the micro SD card and insert it in the back of your flash card. Now simply insert your flash card into the Nintendo DS and enjoy your new collection of games.
